18.03 Clean Monday – kite day celebration
This day marks the beginning of the 40 days of Orthodox fasting, and it is officially a day off in Greece. As part of the tradition, people fly kites and enjoy traditional foods such as Lagana bread, bean soup, salted roe, and sweet halva.
23.03 and 24.03 Taygetos challenge
The challenging route spans forty demanding kilometers across highly technical terrain, making it suitable for experienced mountain runners. With a total altitude difference of 2,504 meters, this trail has been a popular choice among athletes since 2010. According to feedback from runners, it is considered one of the most enjoyable marathon routes in Greece. Notably, two-thirds of the race course traverses the Natura 2000 protected area.
